Hot bending glass is formed by the heating flat glass in a mold to 580-600℃. Bending can be based on gravity. Alternatively, the glass bending process can be assisted, such as using a mechanical bending press to the glass into the target shape.
The shape is then cooled slowly to avoid any residual tension in the glass. The hot bending process itself does not increase the mechanical strength of the glass, nor does it increase its ability to withstand temperature changes.
